CONRAIL MOW PAINTOUT G-26
PRR produced 1650 of their G26 series cars between 1930 and 1931 for use in mill service. Hundreds survived into the creation of Conrail where they were eventually pushed into MOW service.

While several cars were painted into Conrail's gray MOW scheme, some former Penn Central yellow MOW cars received paint outs in black, white, or a lighter shade of yellow. Some G26 gons were eventually used in Panelized Turnout Carrier service using a specially built rack to hold the switch, or in tie service where they could be loaded by Fairmont tie cranes or with a gondola mounted crane such as the “Jimbo”.

The model is a former Penn Central yellow MOW gon where the PC logo and lettering has been blacked out. The road number, 64993, and CR herald has been added in white.

New England Southern G-26
New England Southern was formed in October 1982 and based in Concord, New Hampshire, leasing the former Northern main line from Guilford Rail Systems, and the White Mountain Branch from the State of New Hampshire. New England Southern serves industries such as scrap steel, lumber, clay slurry, concrete powder, and grain from Manchester, NH, north to Tilton. Over the years, New England Southern has used different types of gons in scrap steel and MOW service.

In its Free-Lanced modeled representation on the Amoskeag Northern, NEGS picked up a number of former Conrail G-26 series cars in the 1980's to utilize in scrap steel service from Cohen Steel in Concord, NH to processing plants all over the Northeast. As years went on, and the cars got a beating in revenue service, they were placed into MOW service for scrap rail and ties.

These outstanding models include: Prototypically-correct height above the rails, on Micro-Trains® truck frames fitted with lowprofile wheelsets, Detailed reporting marks and dimensional data, Micro Trains 1015 body mounted couplers and Barber roller bearing trucks, and exquisite detail, inside and out.
