Canon EF-S 18-55. Not too bad for a non macro lens
Shortly I am going I am going to be shooting more and more macro shots and I wanted a light tent so that shooting small items would yield higher results in quality and presentation. Instead of going out and spending $100 on a light tent I decided that I could build my own for much less. In all the total cost of building this "tent" was about $20 and that's because I needed to buy a few lamps and decided to go with desk lights instead of a Home Depot style clamp on light.

Tam Valley Singlet Servo Decoder
Over on the Railwire Lee Weldon started a thread in the DCC forum with a link to Tam Valley Depot and their Singlet Servo Accessory Decoder. Duncan makes a decoder that powers servos to move turnouts, crossing gates, and just about anything else you want to make move. What made these interesting was how quiet they were, and even more so their price. At $20 each you get the servo AND the decoder. Hell compared to the about $36 for Tortoise and respective decoder thats a pretty damn good deal. Even more of a deal was that if you buy 10+ the price drops to $16 each. Heck, they even work on straight DC too for the non DCC users.

Dispite the looks of things around here things have actually been pretty productive on the layout and the speeder. Web updates have been kinda slow as my time to spend on the net has been reduced as I recently changed departments. Since moving to Ossipee PD last month, and even with a 4 on 3 off schedule my time has been really spoken for! The significant pay increase has allowed me to get some things done around the house like finally getting our lawn in, planning a new large deck out back, and renting a dumpster to clean out the basement. Best of all it has helped to progress the layout and the A6 as well. I've also been putting in some shifts over at New England Southern as well, getting our new trackage in Canterbury all set up.
