At the request of the editor of one of my articles at Railroad.net I was asked to submit a track plan for an article I was writing so that readers could get a feel of how the layout was to look. Pretty much until now, the track plan had been in my head, and I was pretty sure it would all fit and work the way I wanted it to. I decided to draw up the track plan in CAD so that I could confirm that everything fit, and that people could see how the finished layout is to look. The blue lines of the plan represent the benchwork, and not the finished fascias. The red line represents the layout limits, ie stairs, concrete walls, and workshop/utility room. The plan shown is pretty much how it is going to be built. All of the measurements on the CAD were confirmed with the layout room to make sure everything fits. I'm sure as I go along some track will change, either added or removed, so don't hold me to it! I think one spot that I may change already is the yard Winnisquam. I want to change the way that the track is arranged, think more "Springfield, MA Amtrak" than what is drawn on the plan.
